Tax Refund Blues
The Osgood File. I'm Charles Osgood on the CBS Radio Network. This is the time of year a lot of people
start working on their taxes. Others will wait until the last minute, of course. But especially for those of you
expecting refunds, the sooner you file, the sooner you can get your money. For the middle-class taxpayer this may
be the last time for a long time, that the concept of refund will even be a consideration.
[To the Tune of Dog Faced Soldier]
It's almost time for you, to file for 1992
For you're a middle-class taxpayer I can see.
It makes you feel so snug and warm, to take that old 1040 form
And figure out what this year's refund's gonna' be.
But every statement that I hear from all the President's men,
Suggests that you'll never see another refund again.
The plan they say they're gonna' pass, is aimed straight at the middle class.
So keep your seat belt tight the ride could get real rough.
In the campaign he promised you, there'd be a tax cut coming through
But now he says you aren't paying near enough.
In every article I read it says the government's broke.
Guess who's gonna' pay? My friend, can't you take a joke?
If you should have the luck, to ever make yourself a buck,
There is one thing you can depend upon for sure.
