AN ACT
For Mhe renoval of Counly Seai of J,,stice.
SFc. 1. lie it enacted by the Seaate and lMouse of Rep-
resentatives of the Republic of Texas in Congress assembled,
That ia majority of two-thirds of the votem of the qualified vot-
eIrs of a couInlty shall be required to remove the seat of justice in
any of tile counties of thi lRepublic, that now are, or hereafter
nay le established; provided, however, that if in any county
the seat of* justice shouldlbe established at a greater distance
than live iiles from the centre of sid county. a majority of all
the votes sh;dl I)e sullicient for its removal, provided such remov-
al shall be within the limits of five miles from the centre of said
county.
Si*:c. 2. Be it further enacted, That when in. the opinion
of the Chief' Justice of any county, the necessary number of
inhabitmnts apply by petition or otherwise for a removal of the
seat of justice, it shall he the duty of said chief justice to order
an election for that purpose, giving due notice thereof, which
election shall le held at the same time and places, and conduci-
ed in the same manner as elections fur members of congress, and
the result of s;dd election shall cstablish the seat of justice, in
arcordance willi tlme provisions of thie first section of this act.
