the Ninth Circuit Region
By MARC R. WALL
& KAREN M. HOUSTON*
INTRODUCTION
This survey summarizes important federal and state maritime
decisions within the Ninth Circuit region for the calendar year 1995. With
contributions from almost twenty staff members, it includes federal
appellate, district court, and state court decisions. Any decisions which
have been granted review by their respective higher courts have been
excluded from this survey. Please note that the Maritime Law Journal
intends for the survey to act as an aid, rather than a substitute, for one's
own legal research. While it highlights the important decisions handed
down within the Ninth Circuit region in 1995, it does not purport to be an
exhaustive study of all the decisions affecting the practice of maritime law.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Karen Houston,
without whose assistance this project would not have been possible.
