handle is hein.journals/romabj15 and id is 237 raw text is: INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION RULES ON MULTI-PARTY PROCEEDINGS AND CONSOLIDATION: A GLOBAL ROUND-UP REGULI ARBITRALE INTERNATIONALE PRIVIND ARBITRAJELE CU MAI MULTE PARTI SI CONEXAREA PROCEDURILOR: 0 SELECTIE DE PESTE GLOB Helin LAUFER, Anton SHAGALOV, William SMITH-BURNAND' ABSTRACT This article examines the rules on multi-party proceedings and consolidation under the International Arbitration Rules of the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board 2016 (KCAB), the Rules of Arbitration of the Vienna International Arbitral Centre 2018 (VIAC), the Rules of Arbitration of the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration 2021 (ACICA), the Arbitration Rules of the Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration 2019 (NCIA) and the Arbitration Rules of the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution 2017 (BCDR). It analyses (i) the conditions for the joinder of multiple parties, and consolidation of multiple arbitrations, under these arbitration rules, (ii) who the decision- maker of such requests is, and (iii) the procedure for the constitution of arbitral tribunals in such cases. The article takes a comparative approach, and seeks to note the clear differences between the provisions of these arbitration rules, but also to identify similarities and overarching procedural trends across the different sets of arbitration rules. 1 Helin Laufer is an associate at an international law firm based in London, and specialises in international dispute resolution and public international law (helin.laufer@gmail.com); Anton Shagalov is a researcher at the Private Law Research Centre in Moscow, and specialises in international arbitration (avshagalov@gmail.com); William Smith-Burnand is studying the Barrister Training Course in London (wasburnand@outlook.com).
