                                    ABSTRACT

The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic will place significant strain on national
court systems for the foreseeable future. Despite significant progress being
made by national courts in adopting technological advances, we argue that
it is time that international arbitration is taken seriously as the first choice in
dispute resolution for commercial contracts. Here, we briefly recap the principal
arguments in favour of such approach, including flexibility and the protection
of the New York Convention 1958, and further present recent examples of
technology being used to promote the adoption of international arbitration in
      the case of existing contracts.

                                     R EZUMAT

Efectele pandemiei COVID-19 vor afecta functionarea activitatii judiciare pentru
o perioada fndelungata. Tn ciuda progreselor importante facute de instantele
nationale in adoptarea de noi tehnologii, pledam pentru oportunitatea arbitrajului
international ca optiune predilecta in rezolvarea disputelor din contractele
comerciale. Aici, trecem pe scurt in revista principalele argumente in favoarea unei
astfel de abordari, inclusiv flexibilitatea si protectia Conventiei de la New York 1958,
si prezentam in plus exemple recente de utilizare cu succes a tehnologiei pentru
promovarea adoptarii arbitrajului international in cazul contractelor deja fncheiate.
