I. INTRODUCTION
Lori Black, a financial services agent, could not be happier with her
compressed workweek schedule.2 Since her day starts earlier and she leaves the
office later, Lori avoids rush hour traffic in both the morning and in the evening.'
She no longer has to fight for a parking spot because she arrives well before her
co-workers.! Lori's favorite part is that she gets Mondays off to run errands, do
something fun, or spend time with her family.5
Steve Nesseler, an information technician, also enjoys a four-day workweek.6
Steve starts his ten-hour workday before his colleagues arrive in the office.7 This
allows him to work on his network before anyone else logs on, uninterrupted by
telephone calls and meetings.8 The four-day workweek makes Saturday and
Sunday more quality days.9 [Steve] can do [a] chore Friday morning at 10:00
A.M. and be the only one in line getting something, instead of doing that same
thing Saturday morning and being 12 people back in line.' Steve also has the
