The Criminal Code of Ukraine provides many crimes, the commission of which is associated with the use offirearms. In this regard, in practice often there is a need to establish the fact of carrying and storing offirearms. Carrying and storing of firearms are examples of passive use of firearms as well as the investigation of such criminal act must be particularly full, comprehensive and objective. In relation to this, the great importance has a comprehensive expert research in the field of the legal ballistics trace evidence analysis, forensic medicine, fingerprinting, forensic chemistry. A new method of the detecting traces of firearms on the body of the person by the diffusion and contact method expands and complements trasological fundamental understanding of the nature and formation of traces and can be the basis for the study of marking formation of different types offirearms. The objects of the research were firearms, which has an open back crosspiece (with handle shell), and the palm of the experimentator. For the experiment were selected TT pistol (caliber 7, 62 mm), Beretta (caliber 9, mm 0), MCM pistol (The Margolin Target Shooting Pistol) (caliber 5, 6 mm) and a signal pistol (Shpagin Signal Pistol) (caliber 26 mm 0). The study was conducted by the following procedure. The pistol for about 15 seconds was held in the hand by pressing the trigger for three times. Then, with little hand force applied to the sheet offixed photo paper pre- wetted with 25 percent solution of acetic acid. The resulting reflection showed 1% aqueous solution of sodium diethyldithiocarbamate, which forms a stable complex compounds with iron ions. ISSN 2409-6415
