THE LAW PARTIALLY AMENDING THE FOREIGN EXCHANGE AND
FOREIGN TRADE CONTROL LAW
(Law No. 65, 1979)
Translated by Andrew B. Anderson, III*
PREFACE
I have attempted to make this translation as useful as
possible to those attorneys and businessmen who speak English
as a primary language and who do not have sufficient fluency
in the Japanese language to read the original version of this
law. No translation can ever relate exactly what the original-
language document states; nuances are inevitably lost or changed
here and there, synonyms abound with slightly different conno-
tations than those which would be attached to words used in the
original language. I have found this to be true even in
1official translations of Japanese statutes. Nevertheless,
translation of a law such as this which affects so many aspects
of trade, investment, and a multitude of capital transactions
between the United States and Japan is obviously worthwhile.
