Superiority of the Islamic System of Justice

handle is hein.journals/iiumlj4 and id is 2 raw text is: SUPERIORITY OF THE ISLAMIC SYSTEM
OF JUSTICE
Tan Sri Datuk Ahmad lbrahimi
We read in the Holy Qur'an that Allah says to the effect:
We have sent aforetime our Messengers with clear signs and
sent down with them the Book and the Balance of Right and
Wrong that men may stand forth in justice (57:25).
Thus Allah has sent down from time to time His Messengers to teach men
how to lead their lives for their benefit in this life and the life to come.
Although man has been created by Allah in the best of moulds (95:4)
and he has been given the gift of acquiring knowledge and reasoning, yet the
knowledge that man can attain to is limited. He does not know with certainty
about the past; even with our advanced technology and communications, we
cannot claim to know everything of the present, and of the future we know very
little. Only Allah is All-knowing and knows everything about the past, the pre-
sent and the future. As we read in the Holy Qur'an to the effect:
Praise be to Allah to Whom belongs all things in the heavens and
on earth: to Him be praise in the hereafter, and He is Full of
Wisdom, acquainted with all things (34:1).
The Holy Qur'an speaks of three kinds of certainty of knowledge, cer-
tainty by reasoning Cilm al yaqin, certainty by personal inspection (Cain al-
yaqin), and the certainty of absolute truth (haqq al yaqin). It is only the reve-
lation from Allah which is truth of assured certainty (69:50-51). Thus as
Allah is the All-knowing, He can best lay down the rules for man to follow
for his salvation in this world and the next. Laws made by man may some-
times be based on prejudice and self-interest but this cannot be said of laws
made by Allah, who is the Cherisher and Sustainer of all the Worlds:
The Command rests with none but Allah: He declares the truth
and He is the best of judges (6:57).
