Abstract:
The U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement, currently awaiting
ratification in the legislatures of both countries, is known to be the
most significant bilateral trade agreement for the United States since

' Yong-Shik Lee is founding Director and Professorial Fellow of the Law and Development
Institute and founding Editor-in-Chief of the Law and Development Review. He has also
taught international trade law and economic development at law schools and business
schools throughout the United States, Asia and Australia. He has developed the concept of
microtrade and authored several high-profile publications on international trade law,
including Safeguard Measures in World Trade: The Legal Analysis (Kluwer Law
International, 2d ed. 2005) and Reclaiming Development in the World Trading System
(Cambridge University Press, 2006). He holds a B.A. (law), M.A., and Ph.D. from the
University of Cambridge and also holds an A.B. (economics) from the University of
California at Berkeley.
± Jaemin Lee is Professor of Law at Hanyang University School of Law in Seoul, Korea,
and a former Associate at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP in Washington, DC. He holds a
J.D. from Boston College Law School and LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center.
He also holds an LL.B., LL.M. and Ph.D. from the School of Law, Seoul National
University.
.  Kyung-Han Sohn is Professor of Law at Sungkyunkwan University School of Law in
Seoul, Korea, and former President of the Korea International Trade Law Association. He
has taught international trade law, international economic law and international intellectual
property. He has been an active practitioner in the international legal field for more than 20
years, and holds an LL.D. from National Osaka University, Japan, as well as an S.J.D. abd
and an LL.M. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He also holds LL.B. and
LL.M. degrees from the School of Law, Seoul National University.
