Dans les discussions sur les causes de l'inconduite des jeunes, deux
visions th~oriques sont souvent r~unies; & l'utilit6 du module de maitrise
se soi qui souligne l'importance de l'impulsivit5, on juxtapose les bienfaits
du capital social du module de contr6le social qui estform6 des attaches
familiales et communautaires tout au cours de la vie humaine. Les
auteurs ont voulu v~rifier la validit6 de ces deux approches en utilisant
des donnes d~mographiques. Ils ont examin5 des modiles d'inconduite
et d'agressivit chez desjeunes de 4 & 11 ans en utilisant les donn~es
de l'Enquete longitudinale nationale sur les enfants et les jeunes
(n=13,067). Les auteurs ont 6tabli que des variables structurelles,
individuelles et de processus contribuent toutes et de manire significative
& l'agressivit et & l'inconduite. L'hyperactivit6 enfantine et le parentage
malveillant semble tous les deux provoquer un risque important
d'agressivit6 et d'inconduite chez lesjeunes. D'apr.s les auteurs, les
deux modules ne s 'excluent pas mutuellement. Le parentage malveillant
et les traits de caractre des individus concourent au d~veloppement de
