                        INDEX TO FOREIGN LEGAL PERIODICALS

A project for the dissemination of information on the legal writings
and literature of all countries was launched in Los Angeles early in September
of this year under an $88,600.00 grant from the Ford Foundation.

The grant will enable the American Association of Law Libraries to
provide a quarterly index to foreign legal periodicals, and, incidentally, the
establishment of an internationally acceptable legal terminology.

Publication of the new Index to Foreign Legal Periodicals is scheduled
for February, 1960. The Index will be published by the Institute of Advanced
Legal Studies, University of London, for the American Association of Law
Libraries. Kurt Schwerin, Assistant Law Librarian, Northwestern University,
served as coordinator of the original project investigating the possibility
of publishing the Index. He is now serving on the Committee on the Index. The
subscription price is $25.00. Subscriptions may be placed with William D.
Murphy, Treasurer, American Association of Law Libraries, 2900 Prudential
 Plaza, Chicago 1.

western University School of Law, was elected President of the new Association,
and Mr. K. Howard Drake, Secretary and Librarian of the University of London,
Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, was elected Vice President. The Association

sustaining members are U. S. $15.00.

Every Law Librarian is invited to join the new Association.

Eda Zwinggi, one of our Iowa members, is Chairman of the Scholarship
Committee of A.A.L.L. this year. She urges that Chapter members seriously
consider applying for one of the five scholarships, ranging from $100.00 to
