These platforms are hoped to enable right-holders to transact directly with end-users without the need for the middlemen, namely collective management organizations and commercial users. It is expected that blockchain could help to solve the historic problems, which are associated with the dominant position of such intermediaries in the right management system. However, blockchain still attracts much debate on its practical constraints. In this research, the benefits and drawbacks of blockchain application in the management of copyright and related rights in music online are investigated.
