   Both minotrity bairs havec had extensive
commniuty inv olvement for numer ous
years. I he Mexican American Bar
Association has ben at the forefront of
many legal. educational, and economic
issues facting out cotunty. Many of

  L.T Trurner Legal Association, an
      oirganiatton representing African
      ,laercan Lawy s tn Dallas
County was organized itt May of 1952,
I he charter members recognized the need
to establish an organization where law-
yets could come together and address
prioblems f acmng African American Law-
yers and the commrunity. The genesis of
JI I. Turner was in direct response to the
D~allax Bai Association's unwtllingness to
alow Airican Americans to become
menihers and the dual standaids practiced
by the judiciary. Although the association
started with a faithful few, it noxx stands
poised to service the needs of its mem-
bershtp and comunity while working in
cotnjuncttin xxith other bai associations.
   T he faithful few wxould be proud of the
sign iciant strides mnade betxween the Dal-
las Bar Association and minority bar as-
sociations, While other segments of our
cormtunity aie debating arid pointing ac-
cusatory fingers, the bar associations ate
quietly hut effectively working to bring
about 'inclusion' of all ethnic minorities
into the D~allax Bar Association.
   T he historical vote by the Dallas Bar
