The Board of Editors for Volume 40 of the South Dakota Law Review
co-dedicates this volume to Justices George Wuest and Frank Henderson.
The Law Review joins Justice Wuest's and Justice Henderson's colleagues
in saluting their outstanding careers in the field of law. Following are
profiles of each of these men along with tributes from those who have
worked most closely with them.

Justice George Wuest, Chief Justice of the South Dakota Supreme
Court from September 1986 through September 1990, was born in Lake
Andes, South Dakota, on February 3, 1924. He graduated from the Uni-
versity of South (USD) Dakota School of Law in 1949. He practiced law
and worked as State's Attorney in Charles Mix County until 1954. In that
year, he became an assistant attorney general and served in the position
until 1959, when he returned to legal practice in Mitchell. He was ap-
pointed to the bench as a Fourth Circuit Court Judge in 1965 and became
the presiding judge in 1974. Judge Wuest remained as presiding judge until
