INTRODUCTION Global animal law is a novel and promising discrete branch of international law. This area of law acknowledges the trans- boundary reality of human-animal interactions and demands, which must accordingly also be global in nature.' Global animal law is multi-directional. It operates horizontally as comparative animal law. It also engages in vertical research, studying animal law on the international, supranational and regional level.
