Resumen: La obra del Liber Picatrix tiene sus orfgenes en Al-Andalus y en el fen6meno cultural de la
Translatio Studiorum. Sin embargo no fue hasta el siglo XIII, 6poca del rey Alfonso X, cuando la efervescencia
de la Escuela de Traductores de Toledo le convertird en uno de los libros de magia mis famosos de la historia.
Un grimorio medieval, cuyos procedimientos sobre la astrologfa, la alquimia e incluso la nigromancia,
justificaron la cosmovisi6n del Rey Sabio y su lugar en el mundo, asf como la fama que la ciudad de Toledo
obtuvo como centro de aprendizaje de las artes mdgicas.

Abstract: The work of Liber Picatrix have his origins in Al-Andalus and in the cultural phenomenon of the
Translatio Studiorum. However, it was not until the 13th century, age of the King Alfonso X, when the
effervescence of the School of translators of Toledo will become him in one most popular magic booksof the
history. One medieval grimoire, whose procedures on the astrology, the alchemy and even the nigromancy,
justified the world view of the Wise King and your place in the world, as well as fame that the city of Toledo
got like center of learning of the magics arts.

1. INTRODUCCION
Teniendo en cuenta las dificultades de sfntesis a las que se puede ver sometido 6ste
trabajo, el presente ensayo se dividiri en tres grandes apartados con el objetivo de estudiar
parte del corpus mdgico que se dio en la ciudad de Toledo durante los siglos medievales,
empleando, pues, el Liber Picatrix como gufa y foco.
El primer punto consiste en analizar su origen como Ghayat al-hakim, asf como su
composici6n y su naturaleza. El segundo consta de demostrar el importante vfnculo desu
traducci6n como Liber Picatrix con la ciudad de Toledo, durante el reinado deAlfonso
