ORA KARP GORDON*
DAVID LO**
DR. GORDON: Thank you for having me. I have been introduced as a
geneticist and I will try not to do the disservice of trying to give too
much information in too little time. My goal is to give you an
* Ora Gordon is a geneticist with the GenRISK Program at Cedars-Sinai
Medical Center where she completed her genetics fellowship, and is an Assistant
Clinical Professor at the UCLA School of Medicine. A diplomat of the American
Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Medical Genetics, Dr.
Gordon's primary research interests include the study of common disease genetics and
the documentation of cancer family history. Dr. Gordon has published results of her
research in the American Journal of Human Genetics and has co-authored a book
chapter in the Fourth Editon of Principals and Practices of Medical Genetics. Dr.
Gordon received her baccalaureat degree from Tulane University, her master's and
medical degrees from the University of California, Irvine, and she completed her
internship and residency at UCLA.
** David Lo is the Vice President of Integrative Biology at Digital Gene
Technologies, Inc. Dr. Lo is responsible for characterization of gene function
through the integration of cellular and anatomical techniques drawn from
molecular genetics, cell biology, veterinary science, anatomy and histology. Dr.
Lo directs DGT's activities in molecular anatomy, focused on the development of
animal and cell culture models used to determine gene function. Prior to joining
DGT, Dr. Lo was a member of the faculty of The Scripps Research Institute for
ten years, most recently as an Associate Professor in the Department of
Immunology. Dr. Lo is a graduate of Haveford College and received his M.D. and
Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. His postdoctoral training was in the
laboratory of Dr. Ralph Brinster, University of Pennysylvania School of
Veterinary Medicine, where he conducted research on developing transgenic
mouse models for the study of induction and maintenance of immunological
tolerance to tissue specific antigens.
