Carey The somewhat vague impression of the members of the profession that the Oregon Constitution adopted in 1857 traced its origin, in part at least, to the Indiana Constitu- tion has been confirmed by a critical and detailed examina- tion of the various sections by Mr. W. C. Palmer, of the Portland bar. While some provisions were elsewhere derived, a very large part of the entire instrument was taken literally from the Indiana draft of 1851. In order to make the result of this study available to those who may have occasion to follow the decisions of the originating states as aids to the interpretation of the instrument and in order to give permanence to the collected precise information thus secured, the tabulated statement is presented by Oregon Law Review.
