NEW RITE OF RELIGIOUS PROFESSION
In response to Vatican irs Sacrosanctum concilium (n. 80) and
with the approval of Pope Paul VI a new rite of religious profession
was promulgated on February 2, 1970 by the Congregation for
Divine Worship and published as a part of the Roman Ritual.
After consultation with the religious superiors concerned with this
matter, popular translations of the rite are to be carefully made by
the episcopal conferences of nations speaking the same language.
With the approval of the Congregation for Divine Worship this rite
may be adapted so that it will clearly show the nature and spirit of a
religious institute.
NEW EDITION OF THE ROMAN MISSAL
On March 26, 1970, the Congregation for Divine Worship promul-
gated a new edition of the Roman Missal containing the new order of
Eucharistic celebration and the texts approved by the apostolic con-
stitution Missale Romanum (April 3, 1969).
It is permitted to use the Latin edition now applying appropriate
accommodations for the feast days of the saints until the restored
calendar is introduced into practice.
The preparation of vernacular editions and, after confirmation by
the Holy See, the decisions on the date on which they will come into
use have been entrusted to the episcopal conferences.
DEACONS
On July 19, 1970, in response to some doubts proposed to the
Pontifical Commission for the Interpretation of the Decrees of the II
Vatican Council, it was affirmed that:
1. A deacon who is attached to a parish stabiliter et legitime may
be granted general delegation or permission to assist at marriages
within that parish. For this purpose he is comparable to the vicarii
cooperatores of canon 1096, §1.
