I. INTRODUCTION
This comment will discuss the impact of technology on wrongful birth and
wrongful life causes of action. In this paper the term technology refers to
technological advancements in the health-care field rather than the computer
industry.  More specifically, this comment will discuss how      scientific
advancements that will allow physicians to detect and treat defects in unborn
fetuses and embryos will affect wrongful birth and wrongful life causes of
action in the federal and state courts of the Third Circuit.
Today, there are extremely rapid scientific advancements' in the field of
genetic engineering and fetal surgery! If these advancements get to the point

2 Until about two years ago, doctors would operate on an unborn fetus only in the direst of
circumstances. But in 1997, physicians at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville
Tennessee, successfully performed the first fetal surgery for a nonlethal disorder called spina
bifida, ushering in an era where surgery for many types of fetal surgeries for many types of fetal
abnormalities will likely become common place. [...] out of 48 surgeries so far performed at
Vanderbilt, 46 babies were born with out complications.
