ABSTRACT This Article examines four regimes that regulate the carriage of goods by sea with regard to seaworthiness: (1) Common law; (2) the Hague/Hague- Visby Rules; (3) the Hamburg Rules; and (4) the Rotterdam Rules. This article not only compares the text, but it also explains why the Rotterdam Rules approach is the most in line with current trade. II. INTRODUCTION Seaworthiness is one of the most discussed principles and influences various fields of law, such as insurance and liability.'
