Her doctoral research focuses on migrant labour and trafficking in persons and she is also involved in studies concerning gender and labour, occupational health and safety, and gender and security sector reform. She currently consults on security sector issues in Iraq and fornerly in Kosovo with the United Nations. Katherine Lippel is a full professor of law at the Faculty of Law (Civil Law Section) at the University of Ottawa and holds the Canada Research Chair in Occupational Health and Safety Law <www.droitcivil.uottawa.cachairohslaw>. She is also ad- junct professor at Carleton University's School of Social Work and at the Univer- sit6 du Qudhec i Montr6al (Ddpartemnent des sciences juridiques). Jill Hanley is an Assistant Professor at the McGill School of Social Work. Her re- search focuses on access to social rights, especially health and labour rights, for migrants with precarious immigration status. She is also co-founder and an active board member of Montreal's lImmigrant Workers' Centre.
