Se enfatiza en la motivaci6n como m6dula de este proceso y en la necesidad de que los docentes estimulen a los educandos a leer, de forma tal que sientan el deseo de hacerlo de manera espontanea y sistematica. Se concibe la lectura como una actividad interactiva entre el texto y el lector, lo cual permite considerar desde el punto de vista didactico que la formaci6n lectora es un complejo proceso de adiestramiento y de educaci6n para lograr la implicaci6n del lector con el texto. PALABRAS CLAVES: Habito lector, formaci6n lectora, sustentos del desarrollo del habito lector. ABSTRACT In the article the reader habit is conceptualized and the epistemic foundations that sustain the development of the reading habit of the learners are exposed. Emphasis is placed on motivation as the core of this process and on the need for teachers to stimulate students to read, in such a way that they feel the desire to do so spontaneously and systematically. Reading is conceived as an interactive activity between the text and the reader, which allows us to consider from the didactic point of view that reading education is a complex process of training and education to achieve the reader's involvement with the text. KEY WORDS: Reading habit, reading training, support for the development of reading habits. En la actualidad la labor de la escuela debe estar encaminada a ensehar a pensar, ensehar a aprender y ensehar a actuar; basandose en el desarrollo de habilidades intelectuales y estrat6gicas que les permitan a los educandos participar de manera activa en la sociedad. Formar habitos lectores constituye un pilar fundamental en el desarrollo de estas habilidades, para lo cual es imprescindible fomentar el gusto por la lectura, y asi nos lo alert6 nuestro Ap6stol: Leer, escribir, contar, eso es todo lo que les parece que los niihos necesitan saber.
