She has been a leader in immigrant Muslim and non-Muslim organizations for over ten years. In the immigrant Muslim community, she has served on her high school, college, and law school Muslim Students Associations, she was a youth leader at her mosque, and has organized Muslims in social and spiritual gatherings outside of institutions. She regularly engages with her Muslim network to seek and share advice and opportunities. In the broader community, she has been a leader or active participant of organizations whose interests include community service, environmental sustainability, and public interest careers. She is also an active board member of the Duke Law Alumni Association. I would like to thank Musa Dajani, the co-editor of the UC Davis Social Justice Law Review, for inviting me to write and publish this article. I am also grateful for the public interest lawyers who took the time to talk through my ideas and share their experiences on the ground: Rahmah Abdulaleem, Zahra Billoo, and Madihha Ahussain. I am especially appreciative of Rahmah Abdulaleem, law student Nabintou Doumbia, legal academic Patricia Muhammad, and my dear friend Yossra Hamid for their detailed and valuable feedback.
