Messrs. Davis, Bull, and Waite, Judges.
The District Attorney moved the trial
of Henry G. Green. indicted for the mur-
der of Mrs. Mary Green his wife. The
motion was granted by the Court.  M.
I. Townsend, District Attorney, and
John Van Buren, Erq., Atorn-ey Gener-
al of the State, ippe.redfi6r the People,
and Joshua A. Spencer, Job Pierson,
Gardner A. Stowe and Robt. A. Lo'-
ridge, Esquires, appeared for the prison-
er.
The Court proceeded to empannel the
jury in the case of Mr Green, when
the following persons were sworn, mak-
ing the jury complete, viz :

4 Rich. t;ardner, 10 John Franklin,

Before the jurors were sworn, they
were severally interrogated by prisoner's
counsel in reference to their having
formed an opinion in regard to the guilt
or innocence of the accused, and by the
District Anotney rn regard to their hav-
inT co:rs ieatious scruples against find-
ing p:rsos guilty of crimes when the
punishment of such crimes was death.
'I lie cuart then adjourned until to-mor-
row ,norning, at the tequest of the Dis-
trict Attorney, who wishes for further
time to prep.rre before openinig the ca-v
to the jury. He stated that tie had been
preveiLed, by recent indisposi'ion, fron
making such preparation as he had de-
signed. The case will, therefore, be re
suited this morning, at an early hour,
and continued d. dtem de die until con-
eluded.

in the case of the People vs. Norrnar

SECOND DAY.
9 o'clock, A. M.
The prisoner, who is some 21 or 22
years old, and a man of rather prepos-
sessing appearanee, came into Court
dressed in a su.t of black and wore a
weed in his hat. lie appears in good
health, except somewhat care-worn.
SINOPSIS of the District Attorney's
Remarks in opening the cae of
-Green, now in progress at the Court
House in this city.
M 'lr. TOWNSENo stated that the crime
for which the prisoner wa arraignedI
was the murder of his wife in the town
of Berlin of this county, in February
last. The prisoner was burn in that
,own, and is now 2L or 22 years old,
and is related to verv many of the re-
spectable families of that place.
In the month of November, tire pris-
oner who was a merchant, was burnt
out and he was thrown out of busine-s.
Soon after a company of Temiperance
performers made an exhibition in tiast
town. A young lady named Mary Ann
Wyatt, aged some IS years was in the
company, who by her fine personal ap-
pearance won a strong hold upon the
iffectiono of the people, and particular-
ly of the prisoner, who at once enli-ted
with the coupany in their performan-
ces.
The company not meeting with much
-uccess in some adjoining towns, dis.
banded at Nev tebanon ; and son
ifter Green returned to Berlin and in-
formed his friends that he was tor be
narried a week from the next Sunday
night, and invited them to attend his
vedding at New ,ebanon. But such
was the haste of the prisuner to -ake
sure of his lrize tiat he did not walt
until the appointed time, but celebrated
the nupual ceremony on the 6unday
previous.
On Tuesday night the bridegroom
nd his bride staid at the house of Fer-
dinand Hull in Berlin. On \Vednesday
the prisoder received a visit fron his
nother and sister and held a long trivate
interview with them. On Thursday,
,,reen and his wife with a party of
friends took a slegh ride to tIoosick, and
returned with his wife somewhat uni-
well. On  riday moruing the scene of
-voe comtmences ; onthatuorning the
,risoner went to Dr. Rhodes and pro-
-ured a box of pills (as he said) for his
two use, and returned to Mr. Hull's
