 Dear Friend,

The Alexandria chapter of the National Organization for Women is planning a symposium on
Women, Discrimination, and the Courts in Virginia. The symposium will be held on Wednesday,
September 29, 1993 at 7:00 PM, at the Lincolnia Senior Center, 4710 North Chambliss, Alexandria,
Virginia. Although great strides have been made to end bias and discrimination against women in
Virginia's laws and judiciary, much progress is still needed. Recognizing this, the symposium will bring
legal and victim assistant professionals together with grassroots activists and community leaders to develop
 strategies to end gender discrimination.

Enclosed, please find a press release and flyer, announcing the symposium. The participation of
your group is essential to ensure that all viewpoints are considered. We are asking your participation in
any of the following ways:

               Be a Co-Sponsor (Contribution of $100)

Be a Friend (Contribution of $50)

Print the announcement in your newsletter

Let us know your concerns and perspectives on these issues

Provide related material for an information packet for participants

Suggest other groups that should be involved or those who should be invited

Co-Sponsors and Friends will be acknowledged in the printed program. Make check payable to
Alexandria NOW and mail to us at the chapter address above. The funds are needed for reproducing
materials for the information packet for each participant, mailings, follow-up development of legislation,
correspondence with legislators, and outreach.

We especially ask your help to publicize the symposium through your newsletter as well as by
posting and/or distributing the flyer. If you need the announcement in another form, need further
information or other assistance, or have any questions, please contact us.

                                                    Sincerely,

                                                         Gibber and Susan Hall, Coordinators
