The purpose of this journal is to disseminate quality research by New
Zealand law students to the common law world. This volume contains
nine of the best articles written by students whilst studying at a New
Zealand university. All of these articles are a real and significant
contribution to legal scholarship in New Zealand and the common law
world.
The NZLSJ is a unique project. The articles are authored entirely by
New Zealand law students, the Journal is administered entirely by New
Zealand law students, and the review process is governed by a board
consisting exclusively of New Zealand law students. Hence, this Journal
is genuinely the New Zealand Law Students' Journal.
To ensure the quality of the work published in this Journal, an
Academic Review Board of current academics blind reviewed the work
and provided feedback to the authors and advice to the student review
board. However, the latter board reserved ultimate discretion to make
decisions regarding publication.
It is the intention of the Chief Editorial Board that the NZLSJ provide
a professional vehicle for publication of New Zealand law students'
work. Moreover, it is our intention that the NZLSJ will make a
meaningful contribution to legal education and scholarship. We
recognise the unique ability of law students to provide a fresh and
contemporary critique of legal issues.
It is my hope that you enjoy engaging in the ideas presented in this
Journal and feel enriched from conversing in current issues of law from
the unique perspective of a New Zealand law student.
