EDITORIAL

This is the first issue of the new-born law journal No Foundations, presented by
The Extreme Legal Positivism group. The journal intends to be a conjuctive
platform for discussing issues in legal theory, sociolegal studies and philosophy of law.
In the beginning, the journal's specific focus will be on the research topics of the
group's ongoing research project The Necessarily Contingent Law. The overall theme
of this project is the legal construction of social reality, while the specific topics are the
following: (1) the beginnings of the legal sociology, (2) the sociology of legal
knowledge, (3) the cultural pluralism within and without the law, (4) the identity
politics in law, (5) the philosophy of the ordinary language and the law, (6) the history
of the positive law and of the positivistic conception of law, and (7) the formalism-
realism-universalism debate in internationallaw andpolitics. Contributions dealing with
these themes are especially welcomed.
The first issue of No Foundations consists of the papers presented in the
feminism workshop organised by the group in March 2005 for the legal philosopher
Maria Drakopoulou. In addition, there is a closely-related text on EC law by Suvi
Sankari.
The next issue will consist mainly of the papers that will be presented in a
workshop the group will organise for professor Roger Cotterrell in January 2006.
