PRITCHARD APPOINTS

1990-91 DIVISION

OFFICERS


Law Division   Head  David Pritchard has ap-
    pointed 15 people to be division officers for the
 1990-1991 academic year. They will assist the
 division's elected officers (head, vice head/program
 chair, clerk/Media Law Notes editor) in a variety of
 ways.
 Cathy  Packer (North Carolina) will be research
 chair. Her duties include administering the re-
 search-paper competition for the 1991 convention in
 Boston and advising Vice Head and Program Chair
 Ruth Walden (North Carolina) on programming re-
 lated to research.
 Todd  Simon (Michigan State) will be teaching
 chair. His duties include arranging a panel on issues
 related to teaching for the Boston convention, and
 advising Walden on programming related to teach-
 ing.
 Louise Benjamin (Indiana) will be professional
 freedom and responsibility chair, with Ann Brill
 (Marquette) serving as vice chair. Their duties in-
 clude arranging a panel on issues related to profes-
 sional freedom and responsibility for the Boston
 convention, and advising Walden on programming
 related to that subject.
 Elinor Grusin (Memphis State) will be member-
 ship chair. She is charged with developing ways to
 increase the division's membership.
 Whitney Mundt  (Louisiana State) will continue to
 serve as the division's historian. He is charged with
 maintaining, safeguarding, and expanding division ar-
 chives.
 Sandra  Braman (Illinois) will be liaison to the
 Communication Theory and Methodology Division.
 She will represent the Law Division in the design
 and analysis of the survey of attitudes about the First
Amendment   being cosponsored by the two divisions.
Robert  Trager (Colorado) will be liaison to the
American Bar Association. He will keep the


division's elected officers apprised of media-law is-
sues that are being discussed in ABA circles.
  Lynne Flocke (Syracuse) will be liaison to the
society of Professional Journalists and the Reporters
Committee  for Freedom of the Press. She will keep
the division's elected officers apprised of media-law
issues that are being discussed by these professional
organizations.
  Dorothy Bowles (Tennessee) will continue as liaison
to the Student Press Law Center. She will keep the
division's elected officers apprised of important
SPLC  issues, and will recommend an appropriate
level of Law Division funding for the SPLC at the
1991 business meeting.
Jeremy  Lipschultz (Nebraska at Omaha) will be
liaison to Radio-Television News Directors Associa-
tion. He will keep the division's elected officers ap-
prised of media-law issues that are being discussed
by RTNDA.
Wat   Hopkins (Virginia Tech) will continue as
liaison to the Bill of Rights Bicentennial Committee.
He will represent the division's interests on the com-
mittee that is planning and coordinating the various
AEJMC-related  celebrations of the Bicentennial of
the First Amendment.
Sherry  Lee Alexander (Florida) will chair the Ad-
visory Committee of Young Scholars. Other mem-
bers of the committee will be David Arant (North
Carolina) and Eddith Dashiell (Middle Tennessee
State). The committee will advise the division's
elected officers on issues of interest to graduate stu-
dents and beginning faculty members.
