  It contains, by order of the several Courts,
all advertisements required to be me by offi-
cers of the Circuit and District Courts of the
United States, all Auditors' Notices in the Dis-
trict Court, Court of Common Pleas, and Or-
phans' Court, all Notices of the filing of Assign.
ees' and Trustees' accounts, and all Notices of
intended applications for admission to .the Bar.
It also contains weekly Reports of the decisions
of the District Court, all the Trial and Motion
Lists of all the Courts, with current and correct
reports of all cases of interest decided in this
city.  A  monthly abstract of Sheriff's Sales,
with  the properties arranged in the order in
which they are put ti, is also published. Re-
mittances may  be made by mail, (post-paid) at
our risk.

           LAW   DEPARTMENT.

  Hon. George Sharswood, Dean of the Faculty,
Professor of the Institutes of Law, including
Inter Alia, International, Constituttonal, Com-
mercial, and Civil Law.
  Peter McCall, Esq., Professor of Practice,
Pleading, and Evidence at Law and ino Equity.
  E. Spencer Miller, Esq., Professor of Real
Estate, Conveyancing, and Equity Jurisprudence.
  The course consists of two years. There are
two terms in each year. The first term begins
out the first of October, and continues four months ;
the second, on the first of February, and crrn-
tunues four months. From the first day of June,
to the first of October, is vacation.
  Students who have attended four terms with
each Professor may, upon the recommendation of
the Faculty, proceed Bachelors of Law.
  Students wvho have attended any one or two
of the Professors only, may receive from each
Professor certificates of proiciency.
  The  fee to each Professor is ten dollars for each
term of four months. No matriculation fee is re.
quired.
  In all cases where a student of law is desirous
to attend a course, and can bring a certificate
from tie member of the bar with whom he is stu-
dying, that he is, for any reason which may be
stated, a proper object for such indulgence, he
will be allowed to attend the lectures without
charge.
  Each Professor has the control and regulation
of his own course of instruction. All of them,
however, combine examinations, and Moot Courts
with their lectures, so as to make the system as
complete as possible.
  The   Supreme  Court of Pennsylvania has,
within a few months past, adopted the following
general rule, giving a practical advantage to
those who obtain a degree from this department:
  1 Any person who has been duly graduated as
  Bacselor of Laws by any College or Universite
  of this Commonwvealth, duly inicorporated andf
  authorized by laws so to gradua te, arnd who Ins
  received a diploma, or proper certificate of tacit
  gradruation, and who. Iras alsoa boen admaitt,,il to
  practice as an attorney by any Court (if Commrar
  Pleas or District Court of this Contuonw l.h.
  shall be forthwith admitted to practice as an at
  torney of this court.''

   Corporation on the Ist day of February, 1853,
   and which the latter have no power by their
   Charter to hold.
   And  now, Dec. 24, 1853, notice of the said
 application is directed to be given once a week
 for two weeks, by publication in any newspaper
 published in the city of Philadelphia, and that all
 parties interested in the said matter shall appear
 on SATURDAY, the 7th   of January, 1853, and
 show  cause if any they have, why the Court
 should not make the Order and Decree prayed for
