TIE LEGAL INTELLIGENCER.

VOL. 1. PHILADELPHIA, SATURDAY, DECEMBER 9, 1843. NO.1.

                  TO THE PUBLIC.
This sheet is intended as a medium fo'r the publication of all
legal notices; and it is believed it will tend in a great measure,
if not entirely to remove an inconvenience, which, from the
want of such a paper, has long been felt by the bar and suitors.
The subjoined rule of court will ensure the publication of all
Auditors' notices; and it is our intention to furnish an Abstract
of all the Sheriffs Sales, and all such information as will render
the paper useful to our subscribers.
As it will circulate very generally among the members of the
bar, conveyancers, and owners and dealers in real estate, it will
afford an eligible vehicle of advertisement for booksellers, auc-
tioneers, real estate brokers, &c., &c.

IN THE DISTRICT COURT FOR THE CITY AND
COUNTY OF PHILADELPHIA, NOV. 25, 1843.
It having been represented to the Court by the petition of
magy members of the bar of this court, that it would he conve-
nient and would give more certain notice to them of the pro-
ceedings before Auditors appointed to distribute the proceeds
of sales upon the process of this court, if notice were given in
the LEGAL INTELLIGENCER:
IT Is THEREFORE ORDERED, That in place of the advertise-
ments and notice required by Rule XIV. of the existing Rules
of this court, to be given in cases where the proceeds of any
sheriffs sale, shall be brought into court for distribution, and
the claims upon the said fund shall be referred to an auditor
for adjustment, advertisement be made twice successively in
dhe Legal Intelligencer, published in Philadelphia, and also for
ten successive days in one daily paper in the city of Philadel-
phia, according to the provisions of said rule.
