1.  Transferred employee stayed at motel at new
    station from March 19 through March 21, 1978,
    when he moved iito rented quarters which
    employee continued to occupy for a period in
    excess of 30 days is entitled to payment for
    temporary quarters expense for the period he
    stayed at the motel, but may not be reim-
    bursed such expense for the rented quarters
    as they were not, in fact, a temporary place
    of residence. Paragraph C13000 (change 133,
    November 1, 1976), 2 JTR.

2.  Transferred employee without dependents who
    discontinued and established a residence in
    connection with a permanent change of
    station is entitled tr a miscellaneous
    expense allowance of $100. ParagraphsC9002
    and C9003 (change 131, September -., 1976),
    2 JTR.


     This action is in response to a leLter dated June 21, 1978,
with enclosures, from the Accounting and Finqnce!Officer, Defense
Logistics Agency,Defense Depot Memphis, Memphis, Tennessee, submitting
a voucher and requesting an advance decision concerning a claim of
Mr. Hubert Mitchell for payment of tempoi ary quarters subsistence
expenses and miscellaneous expense allowancesincident to his
transfe '-of stati-n in March 1978. The tequest was essigned
PDTATAC Control No. 78-42 by the Per Diem, Travel and Transporta-
tion Allowance Committee.

    ,,Mr.-Mitchell, a civilian employee of fefense Pr'operty Disposal
Region, Memphis, by Travel Order No. DPDR .:-M-78-l9, dated
March 23, 1978, was directed to move on p  .afnent change of
station from Albany, Georgia, to Warner Robins Air Force Base,
Georgia.  The travel order authorized temporary quarters subsist-
ence expenses for 30 days and miscellaneous expenses. The remarks
sLction of that travel authorization contains th statenent
