2 years of transfer, Sut does not specify
time wichin which request for extension

     This action is tin reeponse to an appeal by Mr. George F.
Lakous, Jr., an empliyae of the Deparcment of the Army, from the
Settlement Certificate dated March 18,,1977, issued by our Claims
Division, which disailoved reimbursement of real estate expenses
incurred by Mr. Rakoun in connecLion' with his permanent change of
official station from-'ed River Army Depot, Texarkana, Texas, to
Fort Konmouth, New Jersey, in J(.ly 1974.

     Pursuant tn Tra-e. Order No. 437-74 'dated May 15 1974,
Mr-.kaus was trane!tred from the Red Rivet Army Depot to i'ort
Konouth.  -He reported Iforyduty at his nevoffictal station on
July,   1974,:and on Deember 12, 1975, put-hased a condominium at
him new duty post.) Mr. Rakousdid not request an extension of
ttPe for reimbsraement until September 2, 1976, when he requested
Information concening a possible extension, aating that he had
not iado a clim. prior 1:o that time as he was unaware that the
Governmnt  voild rei.mbul'se such real estate expenses. He was
advised by iii Finance nd Accounting Off icer at Fort Nonmonth
on Septtaber 15, 1976, 1chat his maximum period of entitlement had
Japsed 2  eare after hW had reported to his now duty station.

     eaIbursement -to Feeral employees of certain expenses incurred
in conction  with residence transactions incident to a transfer of
duty station is governed by section 5724a(4) of title $, Uited
States Code (197r), and the regulaions issued pursuant thereto.
