Since we found only one minor error in our previous audit of travel vouchers submitted by your station, we felt that examination of 84 travel vouchers would be an adequate sample to test your sta- tion's performance. We again found only one minor error, from which we concluded that your station was continuing its high performance. The error was payment on voucher No. T-1272 of a full day's per diem at $8 upon departure for temporary duty at 1100 hours. The payment should have been 3/4 day at the $8 rate or $6, as per paragraph M4205-2, Joint Travel Regulations. The resulting error rate was 1.2 errors per 100 travel vouchers. Because of the small sample, this rate is subject to considerable sampling error. We no longer use percentiles as a comparison of stations. Where our findings are significant we advise the station commander of the median error rates for the related type of document. The median error rate for travel vouchers, based upon our latest audit of 157 Air Force stations, is 1.1 error per 100 vouchers. We appreciate the interest displayed in our report of audit.
