              TITLE XI  FEDERAL SHIP FINANCING FUND


Mr. Chairman ano Members of  the Subcommittee:

     We appreciate the opportunity  to appear before you today to

present financial information about  the Maritime Administra-

tion's (MARAD) Title XI Federal Ship  Financing Funa.  With me is

Charles W. Culkin, Jr., Project Manager,  and Laura A. Fauser,

Etaff Memter, from GAO's Accounting  and Financial Management'

Zivision.  As you requested, we have gathered  information ana

summarized the financial aspects of  the Fund, with special

emphasis on its activities since  1981.
