Prior to taking office as Governor, he served for six years as Attorney General of the State of South Dakota. For a number of years he was in private practice in Brit- ton and was also Marshall County State's Attorney and Judge. He served in the Korean War and has been a leader in High School, College (U. S. D.), and Civic activities. All of his brethren of the State Bar wish him success as Governor.
