This year when Chairmen of Standing and Special Committees of our Bar
Association receive their letters of appointment from President Francis J. O'Brien.
they will also receive the material which is reproduced below.
The material is a condensed picture of our Association, its mechanics, and
the scope of its activities. Members of the Association should find it of great in-
terest whether they are a member of a committee or not. It should be kept as a
reference should a member have a need to know what committee may give him
help, or to what committee he might be able to offer help.

           MEMORANDUM
To: All Chairmen of Committees of
    the R. I. Bar Association.
From: The President of the R. I. Bar
      Association.
You have been appointed to a com-
mittee chairmanship because of your
interest in the Rhode Island Bar As-
sociation and in the profession in gen-
eral. The work of our Association
can only be done in direct proportion
to the interest of its members. This
interest must be stimulated by leader-
ship and organization. You have been
appointed chairman of your particular
committee because of your interest and
ability in the particular field covered
by it.
  Herein are some special instructions
and information of vital importance to
you and the success of our program.
Use this information as a Manual.
Supplement it with your own imagina-
tion and planned work.
Your special attention is called to
the instructions for the Public Rela-
tions Committee and how these in-
structions tie in with your committee
work.

Thank you for accepting this im-
portant task in behalf of the legal
profession.
          Sincerely,
          President Francis J. O'Brien
