Disciplinary Rules
Board opposes

The Association s Board of Gov
ernors has approved a resolution
opposing recently proposed
amendments to the Pennsylvania
Rules of Disciplinary Enforcement
Concerning the problem of embez-
zlement and commingling by law-
yers of funds belonging to clients,
the proposed amendments called
for a detailed rule on record keep-
ing by lawyers The action came at
the Boards Dec 19 meeting
In opposing the amendments as
published in the Pennsylvania Bul-
Skn on Oct 29, 1985. the Associ-
ation's Professional Responsibility
Committee suggested in its resolu-
tion that the complete text of DR
9-102 of the Code of Professional
Responsibility (or the complete text
of Rule 1 15 of the proposed Model
Rules of Professional Conduct,
should the same subsequently be
enacted by the Pennsylvania Su-
preme Court) be printed on the an-
nual statement questionnaire sent
to Pennsylvania lawyers, and that
Rule 219 be amended by renum-
bering (d)(l(iv as (d)(1)(v) and
adding the following as the new
(d)(liv)

anonymous case histories on in-
stances of violations of DR 9-102
;or Rule 1 15. if it should become
applicable) for publication to em-

-Request that the Disciplinary

Ponnsylvania. if it has not already
done so. compile anonymous sla-
tistics about those who have been
found to have violated Disciplinary
Rule DR 9-102 (or Model Rule
1 15 if applicable) to attempt to as-
cerlain whether or not there is a
desperate impact of such violations
on any particular group of lawyers
-Request that the law schools in
the Commonwealth of Pennsylva-
na include in their curriculum re-
q ired courses or seminars which
