Johnson Appoints Wright    High Court Welcomes Justice W. H. Inzer;
To Fill J. Inzer's Term   Gillesie. Brady And Jones Also Take Oath

Fred P. Wright, attorney of Amory and
a forner mayor, was appointed Chancellor
of the First Chancery Court District of
Mississippi to begin his duties on Monday,
January 4, 1965.
A  successful practicing  attorney, Mr.
Wright received the appointment f r o m
Governor Paul B. Johnson. He will fill
out the unexpired term of about two years
of Justice William Inzer, who was elevated
to the State Supreme Court.
Chancellor Wright, son of Mrs. W. H.
Wright of Amory and her late husband,
Wiley H. Wright who moved to Amory
form  Smitliville, graduated from  Amory
High Sho! in 1935, and University    f
Mississippi Law school in 1940.
He is a m e m b e r of First Methodist
Church of Amory and has served on the
official board. He is also a member of the
board of directors of the Monroe County
Electric Power Association and the Amory
Federal Savings & Loan Association.

Chief justice Percy M. Lee of Forest opened the after-Christmas and New' Year's
session of the State Supreme Court by administering the oath to four associate justices.
Included was a new justice, former Chancellor William H. Inzer, of Pontotoc. The
others, all previously members of the court, were Judges Robert G. Gillespie, Meridian,
beginning his second full term; Tom P. Brady, Brookhaven, beginning his first full term
after serving out an unexpired term and Robert Lee Jones, also of Brookhaven, who is
similarly beginning his first full term after serving an unexpired term.

JUSTICES TAKE OATH-Four Associate Justices of the State Supreme Court were

Judicial District of Mississippi for 22 years.
He was elected to the supreme bench last
year without opposition after incumbent,
Judge Taylor H. McElroy, of Oxford did
not choose to seek reelection.
Judge Brady has just completed the un-
expired term of the late Justice R. Olnev
Arrington, of Hazlehurst, who died in of-
fice, and now begins a full term.
Associate Justice Jones has completed the
unexpired term of the late Judge Lee Hall,
of Columbia, who resigned before his death.
Jones now begins his first full term.
Chancellor Stokes Robertson, who was
elected to Supreme Court last summer, will
not take office until January 1, 1966.
H. Ray Elected Jaycee
President in Meridian
Meridian attorney HARVEY     RAY has
been elected President-elect of the Junior
Chamber of Commerce in Meridian. He
will serve as First Vice-President for six
months commencing on January 1, 1965, at
which time he will be elevated to the Post
of President. Mr. RAY is a graduate of
Mississippi State University and the Uni-
versity of Mississippi School of Law and
is a practicing attorney and partner in the
Firm of Warner, Self & Ray. RAY was
voted the Outstanding Jaycee of the Year
in Cleveland, Mississippi, in 1961. MIKE
CORRIGAN, also a Meridian attorney was
elected to the Board of Directors of the
Meridian Junior Chamber of Commerce for
a one-year term. Included in the new mem-
bers inducted into the Meridian Jaycees is
attorney TOM McPHEARSON.
