Crowley County Courthouse
Crowley County was formed in 1911 by
an act of the Colorado Legislature. Otero
County was divided into two parts with the
portion of the county north of the Arkansas
River becoming Crowley County. There
are four towns in Crowley County: Crow-
ley, Olney Springs, Ordway, and Sugar
City. In February of 1915 the County
Commissioners purchased a site for the
County courthouse and jail and accepted
bids for the construction of a County jail.
The basic building was constructed for
$11,292. Later that same year, the build-
ing was designated the County Courthouse
and County Jail. The building has served
in that capacity to the present time.
