       Annual Meeting Hihlihts



The  ABA   Criminal Justice Section met in  Chicago for
the ABA   Aual Meeting, August 2-5, 2018. The Sec-
tion hosted CLE  panels, c)uncil and cmtnittee meetings
and presented resolutions to die ABA House of Delegates.

The CIS pane, Opioids in America, gathered medicaL dental
and legal professional s to discuss a mu] tidisciplinary approach to
the opiid crisis. Anhother pane, The Future of Problem Solv-
ing Courts, discussed the struggle to find the balance between
treatment and incarceration when rianaging the opioid crisis.

Chair Dervan  Joined the (J Council in 2014. As  Co-Ex-
ecutive Director of the QS  Specialized Practice Divsion,
he  supervised  numerous   conmittees  including: Anic-
us Rev iew  Appellate and  Ia]beas Practice, Cyber--Crime
Goba]   Anti--Corruption, Homeland Secunty, Terrorism &
Treatnent  of Enerny  Combatants,   immigration, and In-
ternational Additionaliy Prof. Dervan is Chair of die ABA
Global  Whiite Collar Crime Institute and a member   of
the International Criminal justice Standards iask Force.


CJS Chair Lucian E. Dervan presented a gift of appreciation to
outgoing Chair Sandy Weinberg at the 2018 Annual Meeting.


The Section presentedatotal of eightCLE sessions, featurngex -
pertdiscussion ofother timel issues suchas: cyberbreach after-
math, cyber law, trends in white collar crine, FCPA compliance
and a review of U.S, Supreme Court decisions on criminal law
