Professor Thomas J. Horton passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2023. Professor Horton received his B.A. from Harvard in 1977 and his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University in 1981. Before joining the legal academy, he was a notable antitrust attorney for the Department of Justice and remained a passionate advocate for market competition throughout his life. Professor Horton taught antitrust, civil procedure and litigation related courses in the Knudson School of Law. He also taught an Honors Seminar on the history of antitrust law and policy and convinced many students from that class to attend law school. Professor Horton loved teaching and mentoring students. He was recognized as the inaugural Heidepriem Trial Advocacy Fellow at the law school for his excellence in teaching the art and skill of trial advocacy. He presented on antitrust issues, especially related to agricultural issues in recent years, across the nation and was regularly quoted by the media on those issues.
