Research Interests
Bodie�¯�¿�½s research focuses on the role of information, control, and�¯�¿�½ownership within the corporation and the workplace. �¯�¿�½He is particularly�¯�¿�½interested in the role of the employee within the firm.�¯�¿�½
Publications and Media Placements
Bodie has published over 40 journal articles, essays, and book chapters.�¯�¿�½His papers have�¯�¿�½been selected for presentation by the American�¯�¿�½Law & Economics Association, the�¯�¿�½Stanford/Yale Junior Faculty Forum, the Labour Law Research Network, and the Association of American Law Schools.�¯�¿�½He has coauthored a series of articles on corporate governance and voting rights with Professor Grant Hayden of SMU Dedman School of Law, and they are at work on a related book to be published by Cambridge University Press. He served as Reporter for the American Law Institute�¯�¿�½s Restatement of Employment Law and was the primary author for the chapter on employee privacy and autonomy.
Bodie has written opinion pieces for the�¯�¿�½New York Times,�¯�¿�½the�¯�¿�½St. Louis Post-Dispatch,�¯�¿�½U.S. News & World Report, and�¯�¿�½Quartz, and has been quoted in such publications as the�¯�¿�½New York Times, the�¯�¿�½Wall Street Journal, and the�¯�¿�½New Republic. He is a contributor and section editor to the Worklaw section for Jotwell.
Community Work and Service
Bodie served as a law clerk to Judge M. Blane Michael of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. From 1997 to 2000, he served as a field attorney in the New York office of the National Labor Relations Board, investigating and litigating unfair labor practice charges and conducting representation hearings and elections. He then taught at New York University School of Law as an Acting Assistant Professor of Lawyering and earned an LL.M. in Labor and Employment Law. Bodie served as an associate professor at Hofstra University School of Law from 2002 to 2006 before joining the faculty of Saint Louis University School of Law. He has been a visiting professor at Notre Dame Law School (Fall 2012) and Harvard Law School (Fall 2016).
