Order 75-4-1

          UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
          CIVIL AERONAUTICS BOARD
             WASHINGTON, D. C.

Adopted by the Civil Aeronautics Board
at its office in Washington, D. C.,
on the 1st day of April, 1975

MIAMI-LOS ANGELES COMPETITIVE
   NONSTOP CASE

Docket 24694

                          ORDER DENYING MOTION

Oral argument in the above-entitled case is scheduled for Thursday,
April 3, 1975. By motion filed late Friday afternoon, March 28, 1975,
Continental Air Lines has requested that the Board postpone oral argu-
ment in order to permit the personal participation of the President's
designee to be a Member of the Board. Continental indicates that such
participation, although not essential, provides a unique opportunity for
Board Members to bring issues into sharp focus, and cites the March 27,
1975, notice by the Chief Administrative Law Judge deferring oral argu-
ment in the Transatlantic Route Proceeding, Docket 25908, to support
its request.

We shall deny Continental's motion. A postponement of the oral
argument at this late date could be seriously disruptive of the plans
of the various participants. The recent postponement of oral argument
in the Transatlantic case, which is likely to be the largest route case
in the Board's history, does not require disruption of the Board's
schedule, and inconvenience to parties, in other proceedings.

ACCORDINGLY IT IS ORDERED THAT: The motion of Continental be
and it hereby is denied.

     By the Civil Aeronautics Board:

EDWIN Z. HOLLAND

Secretary
