requesting supplemental approval of an
equipment interchange agreement.


                   ORDER GRANTING TEMPORARY APPROVAL

     By joint application filed December 10, 1969, and January 28, 1970.  1/
Delta Air Lines, Inc. (Delta), and Pan American World Airways, Inc.  (Pan
American), request approval of a previously filed agreement insofar as  it
provides for the operation of one-plane interchange service with combination
aircraft between New Orleans, La., and Atlanta, Ga., on the one hand, and
London, Englandand  Frankfurt, Germany, on the other hand, via Baltimore,
Md. (Friendship).  On March 9, 1970, the applicants filed a supplemental
pleading requesting a temporary suspension of interchange service to
Frankfurt during the period April 26, 1970, to'October 25, 1970.

     In support of their request the applicants allege, inter alia, that:
by Order 68-12-81, dated December 13, 1968, the Board approved for an
indefinite period of time an agreement insofar as it provided for the
operation of a New Orleans/Atlanta/London/Frankfurt one-plane interchange
service via Washington, D.C. (Dulles); 2/ the present interchange operations
have been successful and have provided a needed public service; that Pan
American plans to inaugurate Washington, D.C.-Europe service with its
newly acquired B-747 (jumbo-jet) equipment on June 1, 1970; markets
generating large numbers of passengers are required to support jumbo-
jet service, and Pan American's largest.Washington-Europe route
is Dulles/London/Frankfurt, although even this market is
