         and
ALASKA AIR SERVICE, INC.

Docket 29184
Agreement CAB 25814

Concerning Subcontract Service

JOINT APPLICATION of ALASKA AIRLINES,
INC. and TYEE AIRLINES, INC. for prior
approval pursuant to Section 412 of
the Federal Aviation Act of 1958, as
amended.

Docket 29275
Agreement CAB 23302-A5

                       ORDER APPROVING AGREEMENTS

Alaska Airlines, Inc. (ASA) has filed applications with the Board for
approval of (a) an agreement with Alaska Air Service, Inc. (Air Service) per-
taining to subcontract service between Anchorage and Middleton Island
(Agreement CAB 25814, filed April 27, 1976), and (b) an amendment to an
agreement with Tyee Airlines, Inc. (Tyee) covering service between Ketchikan
and Annette Island (Agreement CAB 23302-A5, filed May 17, 1976).

The first application specifies that Air Service will operate a round
trip between Anchorage and Middleton Island with Twin Beech aircraft on. the
third Friday of each month; and that the compensation consists of a flat fee
of $400 per round trip based on Air Service's approximate existing hourly
charge.

The second application specifies that Tyee, which already furnishes
subcontract service to ASA elsewhere, will provide service between Ketchikan
and Annette Island effective June 1, 1976; that this arrangement is required
because replacement service presently being provided by Tamgass Aviation, Inc.
is being terminated as of May 31, 1976; and that Tyee will be compensated at
the rate of 7.5¢ per pound of mail, increasing to 8.5¢ per pound effective
October 1, 1976. Service will be provided by seaplane to the Metlakatla town
dock on Annette Island rather than to the Annette Island airport.
