Motion of Pan American World Airways, Inc., for clarification of order 73-11-83
                     ORDER AMENDING ORDER

By order 73-11-83, November 19, 1973, the Board approved pursuant
to section 412 of the Federal Aviation Act of 1958, as amended (the
Act), a General Sales Agency Agreement (GSA) between Pan American
World Airways, Inc. (Pan American), and The Royal Jordanian Airlines
Corporation (ALIA). Such approval was granted for a period ter-
minating May 8, 1975, provided that should ALIA make timely
application for renewal of its section 402 permit, our approval of the
agreement, subject to the reservation of jurisdiction ordered herein,
shall continue in effect until 60 days after final decision on such
application.
Pan American has filed a motion requesting clarification of the above
order stating that by order 75-3-85, docket 27115, (approved by the
President on March 22, 1975) the Board canceled ALIA's section 402
charter permit which was effective at the time the above order was
issued and granted ALIA two permits; that the first permit conforms to
the Non-Scheduled Air Services Agreement between the United States
and Jordan and terminates on December 31, 1976; that the second con-
tains authority previously granted ALIA, but not included in the agree-
ment, and terminated May 8, 1975; and that technically the Board has
acted on renewal of ALIA's permit which was effective at the time order
73-11-83 was issued by cancellation. This series of events, according to
Pan American, could be interpreted to mean that approval of the GSA
Agreement would terminate 60 days after March 22, 1975. Pan
American believes, however, that the intent of order 73-11-83 was to
keep the GSA Agreement effective so long as ALIA's authority is effec-
tive.
