                          UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
                          CIVIL -AERONAUTICS BOARD
                             WASHINGTON, D. C.

+ Issued Under Delegated Authority
                                 June 1, 1984

MIDWEST EXPRESS AIRLINES, INC. FITNESS INVESTIGATION: Docket 41453

                                   ORDER

By Order 83-11-15, the Board granted Midwest Express Airlines, Inc. a
certificate to engage in interstate and overseas air transportation of
persons, property and mail. The certificates were to become effective five
days after the Board received from -the FAA copies of the carrier's Air
Carrier Operating Certificate and Operations Specifications, accompanied by
a letter from the FAA. Those documents which constitute the safety report
by the Secretary of Transportation as required under the'Act were received
on June 1, 1984. Under the condition, absent a stay, those portions of the
certificate would automatically become effective on June 8.

By letter filed June 1, the carrier has requested immediate action on
the FAA submission because it is ready to commence operations on June 11
and wishes to have its certificate made effective so that it may begin
selling tickets for that service. Review of the documents is satisfactory
and reveals no reason to withhold the carrier's  authority.  Therefore;
as the effective date of Midwest Express' FAA Air Carrier Operating
Certificate is June 4, 1984, the effective date of Midwest Express' CAB
certificate will be advanced to June 4.

Under authority delegated by the Board in its Organization Regula-
tions, 14 C.F.R. § 385.21(g)(1):

     IT IS ORDERED THAT:

     1. Ordering paragraph 4 of Order 83-11-15 is amended to read:

         4. The authority granted here shall become effective on
     June 4, 1984.
