Application of

     FRONTIER AIRLINES, INC. Docket 29120

for renewal of exemption
authority to provide service
between Minot, North Dakota
and Regina and Saskatoon,
Saskatchewan, Canada

                          ORDER GRANTING EXEMPTION

On August 19, 1983, Frontier Airlines, Inc. filed an application in
Docket 29120 requesting renewal of its exemption authority to operate
scheduled air transportation of persons, property, and mail between the
terminal point, Minot, North Dakota, and the co-terminal points, Regina and
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada. 1/ Frontier also requested a waiver of the
timeliness requirements of Part 377 of the Board's Regulations to the
extent necessary to permit its exemption authority to continue in effect
pending final action on its renewal application. 2/

1/ The Board originally granted Frontier Minot-Regina/Saskatoon exemption
Tuthority in September 1976. See Order 76-9-125, September 22, 1976. This
authority was subsequently extended by Order 79-10-113, October 19, 1979,
and Order 81-9-131, September 21, 1983. Frontier has an application for
certificate authority over the Minot-Regina/Saskatoon route pending in
Docket 29021.
2/ Part 377 contains our rules implementing 5 U.S.C. 558(c) of the
Tdministrative Procedure Act regarding applications for renewal of
temporary authorizations granted pursuant to certain sections of the
Federal Aviation Act of 1958, as amended. Rule 377.10(c) states that in
order for the automatic renewal provisions of the section to apply, the
holder of temporary exemption authority must file for renewal of that
authority not later than 60 days before the authority is scheduled to
expire, i.e., on or before July 25, 1983, for the authority at issue here.
On August 30, 1983, we verbally granted Frontier's request for waiver of
the timeliness requirements of Part 377. We confirm that action here.
